Industrial Motor Services

A motor’s electrical health gets all the attention. But it’s mechanical failure that usually shuts you down.
Millwright Services / Industrial Motor Services
Shaft misalignment, soft foot, base distortion, and bearing wear can take out even the most perfectly rewound motor.

At Tillson Industrial, we focus on the mechanical integrity of your motor—installing, overhauling, and aligning motors with the precision required to keep your plant online and your investment protected.

What We Do

Industrial Motor Services

We provide full-scope mechanical motor services—both in the field and in the shop—to ensure your equipment runs true, stays aligned, and lasts longer.

We don’t do rewinds, stator work, or electrical diagnostics. Instead, we partner with your internal team or motor shop to complete the mechanical side of the job with elite-level precision.

We service:

  • AC induction motors (horizontal and vertical)
  • DC motors (mechanical work only)
  • TEFC, ODP, and explosion-proof motors
  • Skid-mounted, belt-driven, and baseplate motors
  • Motor-to-pump, fan, and gearbox systems

Our scope includes:

  • Bearing and seal replacement
  • Shaft and end bell repair
  • Mechanical disassembly, cleaning, and rebuild
  • Shim and baseplate correction
  • Precision shaft alignment using laser tools
  • Final setup for field startup and load service

If it spins, we keep it in line.

Why It Matters

A motor isn’t just a box you bolt down—it’s the backbone of your rotating systems. And the majority of “motor failures” are actually mechanical issues.

Common failure points include:

  • Misaligned motor-to-load connections
  • Excessive vibration from uneven bearing loads
  • Cracked grout, warped bases, and soft foot
  • Premature seal or bearing wear from DBSE misfits
  • Excess coupling load or shaft deflection under strain

The result?

Hot starts. Emergency resets. Expensive downtime. And if it’s a newly rewound motor that fails early, your repair budget just took a hit.

Tillson eliminates these risks. We align motors to the load, prep and level the base, and confirm the mechanical side is done right—so the electrical side has a chance to succeed.

How We Get It Done

1. Initial Inspection
We begin with a full mechanical assessment. Shaft runout, bearing condition, frame flatness, foot contact, and base condition are checked and documented. We’ll also inspect for any prior alignment issues or visible wear.

2. Disassembly & Cleaning
Our team removes end bells, guards, couplings, and fan housings. Bearings are pulled, and all mechanical mating surfaces are cleaned, inspected, and prepped for rebuild.

3. Component Repair & Replacement
We install new bearings, seals, and hardware. If necessary, we machine shaft journals, restore worn fits, or correct damage to fans, keys, or couplings. All parts are returned to OEM fit specs.

4. Reassembly & Setup
The motor is reassembled with precise bearing preload, proper end bell alignment, and free shaft rotation. We confirm smooth operation and mechanical readiness.

5. Field Reinstallation & Alignment
Once rebuilt, the motor is reinstalled on its base or skid. We shim, level, and laser-align to the driven load—whether it’s a pump, fan, gearbox, or other equipment. DBSE is verified. Torque is logged. Vibration is minimized.

6. Startup Support
We remain on-site for startup support—helping with final bolt-up, rotation verification, and post-install alignment validation. If soft foot or coupling misfit occurs, we correct it immediately.

Where We Work

We perform motor rebuilds and installs across industries and environments, including:

Whether it’s a 5 HP vertical motor or a 500 HP belt-driven beast—we’ve got the tools, talent, and tolerances to do it right.

The Tillson Difference

We don’t just bolt motors down and walk away. We bring base prep, shaft alignment, and rebuild quality that gives your equipment the longest life—and gives your team fewer things to worry about during operation.

We leave the electrical to your techs. You call Tillson when the mechanical side needs to be flawless.
